The team got another 1-2 today, as Rafa Rodriguez won the Orbea-For Goodness Shakes! Road Race and Marcel Six took second place. Rafa makes it four wins in a row for the team!

It’s a Sunday, it’s a race day, and so what does that tend to mean this season? Rain, and yet another wet race. Driving down to Godmersham in Kent, Matt Ewings reliably told all that would listen that it would stay dry and not to worry, but as soon as we parked the car the rain started, and once again it would be with us all race.

Janet Birkmyre and Cassie Gledhill second and third in the Newport Women’s Sprint Omnium.

The 21st and 22nd August saw Janet and Cassie race at the Women's sprint Omnium held at Newport Velodrome. The event is the only sprint specific event for women in the UK.

Marcel Six sprints to victory at the Python RT Road Race!

On Sunday 15th August the team lined up in the Python RT Road Race against a strong field that included former winners Ben Luckwell (Wilier-Big Maggies-Prendas) and Tony Gibb (Cycle Premier).

We’re a long way from racing everyday like the Belgians, but in August, we’re always treated to a couple of midweek races and one of these is the Barry Elcombe Memorial in Alfold, Surrey.

Four European Masters titles and two European Records for Janet Birkmyre! Here are Jan's own words:-

"I travelled to the Manchester velodrome for the first race of the European Masters Track Championships, having left Great Witley in Worcestershire at 6am that morning, travelling, via Bury St Edmonds for a family funeral - not the preparation or the circumstances I would have chosen.

As Boris Becker said of losing Wimbledon ‘it was a bad day at the office, no-one died’ but I am still disappointed by my showing in the Omnium at the Dudley Grand Prix.

My shoulder is much better, it will still take a while to build the strength back up but I am now back to full training. A few weeks ago I raced in Cottbus, Germany, at a European Sprint event. It was a great experience, I didn't get any significant results as I was still struggling with my shoulder but it was an improvement on Moscow and I hope to go back again soon.

The National Derny Championships were held today at Quibell Park Velodrome in Scunthorpe, and Janet Birkmyre dug deep to take the bronze medal for team Orbea-For Goodness Shakes!

I got back from Moscow yesterday and thought I'd send you a quick update!

Unfortunately even with all my efforts to speed up my recovery I was not able to perform or race properly. I did gain a lot from the experience though. I rode the track (although was unable to really get out of the saddle!) and got the feel of being at my first international event alongside Olympic and World champions.
